Calling
all Singers, Dancers Musical Theatre Performers! The range of
programs offered in this department is enormous... with some
programs catering to complete beginners and others requiring
previous experience. Emphasis is placed equally on developing
technique and providing tons of opportunities for creative
exploration. This means we'll teach you to dance, sing or act better
than ever before - while giving you a chance to explore new ways to
use your talent. While all programs culminate in final
demonstrations and shows, the atmosphere is distinctly
non-competitive, and auditions are never required. Our goal is to
provide everyone with an equal chance to grow and learn, regardless
of talent or previous experience.
Our Dance Department
encompasses numerous forms - ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, hip
hop, Irish and much, much more! We're all about celebrating the art
form and discovering the joy that makes us want to DANCE! Our
recreational dance programs offer new and exciting skills for
campers who have a reasonable level of fitness, but little studio
dance experience. A good staff ratio ensures everyone has a chance
to be challenged, regardless of skill level. Plus, each summer, we
offer one program for dancers who are registered with a reputable
studio and already have several years' experience in ballet and
other forms. The emphasis here is on experimenting with your skills,
while respecting everything your studio has taught you. All campers
participate in a recital at the end of each session.
Our
Musical Theatre Department
includes everything from separate singing and dancing programs, to
Triple Threat challenges! While some programs require experience and
an intensive focus from campers, others are recreational, providing
participants with a chance to celebrate their love of musical
theatre. Many of our campers have gone on to take dance and musical
theatre programs after high school, and several are now working
professionally in the industry. As with all other departments, our
Dance and Musical Theatre Department emphasises personal growth over
competition. Everyone has an opportunity to participate actively in
the final show. As well as exploring famous musicals, we often visit
lesser-known scores, adapt famous plays into musicals, and even
create our own musicals from scratch.
