Digital Arts Camp Programs: Digital Photography and Digital Design

We've been growing our digital arts department over the past couple of years, and now offer exciting options in both digital photography and design. Discover how to take terrific digital photos, and how to manipulate your images using computer software. Explore the digital possibilities of design - costume design, set design, product design and more. Campers can take advantage of our computer lab, and digital design and photography is often inspired by the work of other departments. For example, photography campers may create headshots for our film actors, or use combat campers in motion as the starting point for an exciting photo manipulation project. Join us this summer, and discover the creative possibilities of the digital world!

Pixels & Paint

Session 1 - O (ages 14-18) Instructor: Sandra Baumander

Art and Design collide in this two-week creativity extravaganza! Join us as we push the limits of our imagination by exploring how these two disciplines can work together and complement each other! Firstly we will delve into the world of graphic design, working digitally, as well as with more traditional mediums such as printmaking, to create truly original art. Next, we will explore clothing design from an artist’s point of view. We will reconstruct vintage clothes, using their history as inspiration for new pieces with interesting narratives and meaning. Lastly we will venture into the world of production design, working with a theatre program to conceptualize and execute a 3-D stage design. No experience is necessary for this program, just an interest in both art and design, an open mind and a willingness to push the boundaries!

In Your Dreams: A Photography Challenge!

Session 2 - A/O (ages 9-18) Instructor: Aaron Alviano

Campers in this exciting new Digital Photo program will be faced with a new theme or style every single day! We’ll view photographs, discuss ideas, then head out to shoot solo or in groups. Back in the lab, campers will be taught the digital tools required to bring their own vision - and the visions of others - to life. From Ansel Adams to Annie Leibovitz, from capturing dreams to documenting events and from self-discovery to telling stories through photos, you’ll tackle a different artistic challenge every day - some designed by us, and others by you - growing as a photographer as you develop a style of your own. Photographers will learn by doing in this fabulous frenzy of photos! No previous photography experience is necessary, though experienced photographers are equally welcome! Please bring along your own digital camera.
