It’s Time to Make Stuff this Summer!

At Centauri Summer Arts Camp, we always try to offer a few art programs each summer that incorporate elements of design, so campers have the opportunity to put their creative ideas to practical use. Here’s a couple of programs that fit this format, for summer 2013:

Session Two: Inventing Space and Place! – ages 9-14
In this hands-on design program, campers get to invent spaces for the world we live in… everything from futuristic living spaces, to an ideal zoo! We’ll take a look at the practicalities of design, but leave plenty of room for creative flair. Campers can expect to learn design skills as they create drawings and models to scale, unveiling a final project in front of a curious audience on the last day.

Session Three: Make It, Use It, Wear It! – ages 8-14
Design concepts are part of every object all around us. In this program, campers get to design and then build useful items they can take home with them at the end of the session. We’ll explore costume design, paint fabrics, and add our creative and artistic ideas to dozens of original objects. Whether you want to build things for yourself or give them away as gifts, we’ll help you create useful art to be proud of.
