Thursday, July 3rd was our annual play in a day festival! It began the evening of July 2nd with six  campers writing the plays. The next morning, the entire camp set to work on four different productions, with a small group of campers creating skits to tie the plays together and move the camp from one production to the next. All afternoon camp was humming with activity as the designers worked on sets, technicians learned about sound and lighting, actors memorized lines, musicians and dancers rehearsed and the directors and assistant directors kept everything going. It was truly incredible to see the skills our campers have and how well they worked together to create original theatre pieces in such a short time. Walking around camp checking in on the different groups throughout the day I saw so many people stepping into leadership roles, older campers helping younger ones, newer campers getting a chance to shine, and everyone having so much fun. The performances at the end of the day were absolutely amazing – it was hard to believe the campers had only begun work that morning!
