This morning started off gray and cool, but despite the weather, there was a palpable energy and excitement all around camp. That’s because today is Dress Rehearsal day, and all the campers and staff get to see and celebrate the culmination of everyone’s hard work.

Performances began with Melissa’s Stage Combat program, who transported us to the world of the Norse gods. Campers brought Thor, Loki, and the story of Ragnarok to life with fight scenes adapted from Neil Gaiman’s take on the classic Norse myths.

After a lively lunch (featuring a special performance from the program directors), we headed to the Orion Studio to watch the original work of Daniel’s Performance Arts program, enjoy some excellent pieces of writing from Maria’s  Writing program, and experience an engaging performance from Alanna’s Devised Theatre program. We then moved across to the Odyssey theatre and met a host of familiar characters in Neverland with Alexia’s Dance program. Finally, we were treated to a taste of some wonderful screenplays from Blair’s Writing for Film program.

Later in the afternoon, counsellors treated their dorms to a special final unit hour. Then, we all gathered in the dining hall for our last dinner together, with the traditional Beach Boys music playing, and of course, ice cream sundaes for dessert!

After dinner, we will check out the beautiful artwork of Katherine’s Art Attack program, and Aaron’s Graphic Novel Illustration program, followed by new songs from Lindsay’s Music Mayhem program and a screening of an original short film by Matt’s Japanese Cinema program.

Once all the dress rehearsals are done, we will celebrate in classic Centauri style as is traditional, with a big dance party in the theatre (or quiet games in the dining hall). Then it will be time for our Secret Ceremony…

All in all, a big day, and a great end to the first session of the summer!
