It is 1pm on a beautiful, sunny day at Centauri, and everyone is busy creating. I took a stroll around camp this morning to have a better look at everything going on in programs.

I sat in the shade of the Poet Tree with Blair’s Screenwriting program, and listened to a lively discussion about the script of Wonder Woman. Campers shared their opinions on the plot, and speculated as to what they might do differently to create an even more powerful film.

Meanwhile in Alexia’s Dance program, choreography was well underway for their performance of Peter Pan. The dancers were hard at work on their character physicality as pirates, leaping and kicking their way across the stage. I can’t wait to see the whole story brought to life in dance, along with sets that will be painted by other campers during workshop time!

Today was an especially important day for Matt’s Japanese Cinema program. This morning marked the very first production meeting of their newly formed company, Saiko Gaka Films. Matt and Kento had created digital punch-in badges for all of their “employees,” and were deep in talks with the campers about the next steps and adaptations for a new script.

Tonight, we will all be relaxing and recharging our energy at a camp-wide Pajamarama, where campers get comfy in their PJs and choose between a number of activities, including an Orion arts café (in which older campers discuss philosophical themes from prompts at their tables), field games, and a classic Centauri campfire.

Overall, a great day.
