nature1It may seem strange, but because Centauri Arts Camp is located in the Niagara Region and not up North, families don’t  expect us to have access to a whole lot of nature here. That couldn’t be further from the truth!

nature3This morning as I headed to breakfast, there were over 200 tree swallows sitting on the top of our dorms. Over the pond, a pair of red tailed hawks circled and screamed (we see them a lot as they have a nest behind   our pool). In the pond itself, there is a family of muskrats with 4 babies, and we regularly see herons and killdeer along the pool’s banks, as well as multiple frogs. We have a flock of American goldfinches often seen dipping and soaring around the sports pad, and there are currently at least six nests around the camp buildings with fledglings in them, including purple finches, robins and doves. Our campers often like to give them names. Finally, we have tons of rabbits everywhere, deer regularly along the treeline, and at the moment, there is a pair of ducks with a line of half-grown ducklings seen regularly waddling around the back of the dorms.

joeySo, yes – we have lots of nature at Centauri!

Oh, and we have our office Parrot – Joey :-)
